Sydney’s best hot chips in no order (from a true connoisseur)

Frangos

I’ve been to Portugal heaps, and nothing from the old country compares to the mountain of chips you get in a Frangos burger combo. The perfect shoestring chip covered in their own brand of chicken salt. Holy F&$K I love Frangos

Type: Shoestring fries (like Maccas)
Flavour
9/10
Crispiness
7/10
Volume
10/10
Notes: Frangos actually sells their chicken salt and it must be purchased next time you go.

El Jannah

The original El Jannah in Granville is the best one and its not even close. Is there anything better than burping up toum (garlic sauce) for 3 days after a feed? Thick, golden, delicious chips cooked to perfection. The other more fast food type venues are okay, but if you want the best you can’t beat the original.

Flavour
9/10
Crispiness
9/10
Volume
8/10
Note: Always get extra sauce and pickles (and maybe don’t kiss anyone for a little while)

Ooshman (formerly Manoosh)

The seasoning on these chips must have crack in it. It’s not quite chicken salt, but more of a chicken/paprika based seasoning. It’s so good. Ooshman has absolutely everything and they do it well.

Flavour
10/10
Crispiness
8/10
Volume
7/10
Notes: There is a thing called a haloumi pie on the menu, which is just halloumi encased in bread and it’s to die for.
